tradition. >> that's a sweet story. >> congratulations to them. how you doing? >> i'm well. i'm well. it's a decent lunch hour out there. you want to get outside and take a walk before the rains come back this afternoon. you have a few hours to do that. i'm thinking between 4:00 and 11:00 this evening going to be the best chance we have of seeing showers moving from west to east before things pull out. then some nice, dry, cooler air moves in after that for the next few days. today, though, looking at the day planner, we're talking about mainly cloudy skies. we had some sunny breaks earlier. winds north west 5 to 10. you'll notice the temperatures by mid afternoon about 75, 76. that will be the high for the day. as we get later into the afternoon, a better chance we'll pick up some showers. maybe even a rumble of thunder in spots. if you've got a late day plan, maybe a ballgame or you want to go for a walk this evening, it will be much more difficult to get that in let's say taking that walk. temperatures in the middle 60s. we'll drop to the 50sover night.
12:19 pm
we had showers overnight and early this morning. all of that has moved toward the coastal areas. not a great day at ocean city or bethany or up to eastern long island or down to the cape. out to the west more showers coming in. look at this. coming out of kentucky and southwestern virginia, west virginia, this is all moving in our direction but it's going to take several more hours before we moisten up enough to start seeing the showers return. so again we're probably good for another three, maybe four hours here in the metro. but the clouds are a little thicker in the upper 60s. winchester, luray, 68 degrees. you'll notice low 70s from annapolis in fredricksburg and even in town right now as we look outside on our michael & son weather camera. we've got cloudy skies, a little bit of a breeze. temperatures running in the low 70s at national. 72 with the clouds. northwest winds at 9 miles an hour and humidity at 57%. pretty comfortable for this time of year. naturally the west coast is final. our moisture has been coming down from the deep south. out of texas showers and storms there extending to n. you see the back edge of this rain coming into mississippi and alabama and georgia.
12:20 pm
that is also being pushed up to the northeast on a southwesterly wind. some of these light showers even into parts of new york state. this is all headed toward us. as we break down the timetable for you on the future cast, cloudy skies. well gate into the 3:00 hour. a couple of showers trying to form not far from leesburg over toward areas down to charlottesville, maybe up toward frederick. we'll get in toward the later part of the afternoon now. 5:45, 6:00. now we're seeing showers pushing toward fredricksburg in toward the metro as well. and then for the early part of the night, late evening, look at this. some of the showers are going to pick up. you start to see the yellows, the oranges, the reds, heavier rains. maybe even some rumbles of thunder with this. by midnight it starts to pull away. tomorrow morning we're clearing out. it's going to be a brink northwest wind tomorrow and with that we may see just a spotty shower in a couple of areas near the maryland- pennsylvania border. then cool air really comes in tomorrow night. going to have some lows by friday morning in the lower
12:21 pm
